HID has discontinued diverting water from the Umatilla River at the Maxwell Diversion. We will be diverting water solely from Cold Springs Reservoir for the remainder of the season.

The September Board Meeting of the Hermiston Irrigation District will be held tomorrow September 21, 2017 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the District office located at 366 E. Hurlburt Ave. Topics of discussion will be Elections, Updated Personnel Policies and Water Right Sales/Transfers.
Notice is hereby given that a position for Director is coming up for election in Divisions 1 & 5. The positions in Divisions 1 and 5 are each for a three-year term. Nominating petitions for candidates wishing to be placed on the ballot are available at the District office located at 366 E. Hurlburt Avenue Hermiston OR. Candidates must own land in the division they are being nominated for. Nominating petitions with no less than ten qualified elector signatures must be filed with the District no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 10, 2017 to be placed on the ballot. Elections will be held on November 14, 2017 at the District office.
Meanwhile in Salem, a bill has passed the Oregon House of Representatives that would allow utilities to build solar farms on high-value farmland, provided the land is not within an irrigation district and does not otherwise have a water right.
